Privacy Policy

Introduction

LightPath Apps LLC ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This policy describes our practices for the Hitspace app (the "App") on macOS, iPhone, iPad, and Android prerelease builds. Hitspace renders developer files such as Markdown, JSON, code, and YAML with syntax highlighting directly on your device.

Data Collection

We do not collect data from your device. Hitspace operates entirely on your device. The App does not:

• Intentionally send personal information or previewed files to us
• Use analytics, crash reporting, or tracking tools
• Create accounts or require sign-in
• Store copies of previewed files in the recent-file list

On-Device Storage

On macOS, iPhone, and iPad, Hitspace stores up to 20 recent-file records. Each record contains an identifier, display name, file extension, full file path, security bookmark, and the time it was opened. Hitspace also stores your selected theme and word-wrap preference. You can remove individual recent records or clear the list inside the App; records otherwise remain until displaced by newer records. Apple may include this private app data in a device backup or transfer according to your platform and backup settings.

On Android, Hitspace stores up to 20 recent-file records in the App's private storage. Each record contains the file's display name, file extension, content URI, and the time it was opened. Android also stores your selected theme and word-wrap preference. This information is excluded from Android backup and device transfer. When you choose a file with Open a File, Hitspace asks Android to retain read access so the recent record can reopen it. Clearing the recent-file list or displacing a record releases any retained read access Hitspace still holds for that record. Clearing Hitspace's app data or uninstalling it removes its private data and retained access.

Hitspace itself writes these records and preferences only to local app storage, they are not available to us, and LightPath Apps has no server copy. Apple-controlled backups or transfers are the exception described above. Recent records remain until you remove or clear them or newer records displace them; preferences remain until changed or the App's data is removed.

Clipboard text is read only after you tap the paste action and is used for that preview. Hitspace does not add clipboard text to the recent-file list or save a copy of it.

How Hitspace Works

On macOS, pressing Space in Finder passes the selected file to Hitspace's Quick Look extension. On iPhone and iPad, you can open a file from Hitspace's Viewer or send one to Hitspace with Open With or the share sheet. On Android, you can choose a file, share supported content to Hitspace, or explicitly paste clipboard text. Hitspace reads the selected content and uses bundled resources to render it. The Android app has no internet permission and blocks network loads from previews.

Apple Web Preview and Sharing Safety

On macOS, iPhone, and iPad, Hitspace displays HTML and rendered Markdown in an Apple system web view with JavaScript enabled. A file can contain scripts, images, links, or other remote resources that contact third parties when previewed. Active content in an untrusted file may be able to read and transmit displayed content. These requests go directly from your device to the address specified by the file; LightPath Apps does not route or control them, and the destination's privacy practices apply. Preview only HTML and Markdown files you trust; disconnect from the network before previewing one if you need to prevent remote access.

Hitspace also lets you deliberately send preview text through Apple's system share sheet. Content goes only to the destination you choose and is then governed by that destination's privacy practices.

Third-Party Libraries

Hitspace bundles the following open-source libraries for client-side rendering. They are bundled with the App rather than fetched from a content-delivery network, and the libraries do not report data to us:

• marked.js (MIT License): Markdown parser
• highlight.js (BSD-3-Clause License): Syntax highlighter

Children's Privacy

Hitspace does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The same no-collection practices described above apply to every user.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever update this policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated date. We will revise this policy if the App's data practices change.
