Frequently Asked Questions

How is the suggested weight calculated?

Cadence Lift looks at your most recent prior session for that exercise and uses the top set as the anchor. The label under the suggestion tells you exactly where the number came from ("from yesterday," a specific date, or "starting estimate" if you have no history). Warmup sets are excluded from the prediction anchor.

My Apple Health or Health Connect data isn't syncing

On iPhone, open the iOS Settings app, then Privacy & Security > Health > Cadence Lift and confirm read and write permissions are granted for Body Weight and Workouts. On Android, open the Health Connect app (or reach it through your device's privacy or app settings) and check App permissions > Cadence to confirm the relevant permissions are granted. Cadence Lift writes a workout when you finish a session, and writes a body-weight entry when you log one inside the app.

My rest-timer notification didn't fire

On iPhone, confirm notifications are enabled in iOS Settings > Notifications > Cadence Lift. On Android, check Settings > Apps > Cadence Lift > Notifications, and allow background activity (turn off battery optimization for the app) so the alarm can fire. Cadence Lift schedules a local notification when you start the rest timer, so the alert fires even with the app backgrounded. Focus / Do Not Disturb modes on either platform will silence it — that's the OS doing what you asked it to do.

Can I import workouts from another app?

Export a CSV from Strong to import on iPhone or Android. The iPhone app also supports Hevy and FitNotes CSV exports. Keep the original export and review the imported exercises before using them as your next workout's starting point. Import options can differ by app version and platform.

How do I add workout effort to Apple Health?

On iPhone, the end-of-workout effort prompt lets you record how hard the session felt. With the relevant Apple Health permissions, Cadence saves that effort with the workout for Training Load. You can turn the prompt off in Settings > Health. This iPhone feature is separate from Android's Health Connect integration.

How do I export my data?

For a complete backup, open Settings > Data and export a JSON file, then save it to a destination you control. Import that file on a clean device to restore supported app data. To share one finished session instead, open it in History and use the share button for an image, Markdown, text, or JSON.

Where is my data stored?

Locally on your device — SwiftData on iPhone and Room on Android. On iPhone, Live Activities use a transient rest-timer relay. The optional adult-only AI Coach sends training context only after consent and when you message it; Google may retain that content for up to 55 days for abuse monitoring. Version 1.2 creates no new iCloud workout backups or hosted workout links. See our privacy policy for details.

What does Cadence Pro unlock, and how do subscriptions work?

Cadence Pro unlocks AI Coach. Workout logging, routines, history, stats, watch companions, health integrations, and data export remain free, and the app has no ads. Monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel through the App Store or Google Play. Current local prices and renewal terms appear in the store purchase sheet before you confirm. Restore Purchases requires the same store account and platform where you subscribed; Apple and Google purchases do not transfer between stores. Deleting Cadence does not cancel a subscription.

Can I sync between my iPhone and iPad?

Continuous phone-to-phone or iPhone-to-iPad sync is not available. To move your history, export a user-owned JSON file from Settings > Data and import it on the new device. If you used Cadence 1.1.x's former iCloud-backup feature, 1.2 includes a temporary read-only recovery screen so you can restore that archive locally and export JSON. A paired Apple Watch communicates with its iPhone through WatchConnectivity.

My Apple Watch isn't showing the workout

On the iPhone, open the Watch app and confirm Cadence Lift is installed under My Watch > Installed on Apple Watch. If you don't see it, tap Install. The Watch app needs the iPhone app installed first; uninstalling the iPhone app removes the watch companion. Heart-rate features additionally require granting HealthKit permission on the watch the first time you start a session there.

I lost a set I just deleted

Look for the "Undo" toast at the bottom of the screen — you have five seconds to tap it after deleting. After that, the delete is permanent (the next session won't have it, but the current session does).
